Exploring the impact of stigma on the health of inclusion health groups: a qualitative scoping review and critical analysis

'𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘮𝘢 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘱𝘴' looks across multiple population groups, rather than treating stigma as something that belongs to one condition or identity.

What stands out is the reminder that when we examine stigma across groups, patterns start to emerge. Similar experiences of exclusion, judgement, and barriers to care often point to structural causes, not just individual attitudes. It raises some big questions for anyone working in health, policy, or service design.

1. What do we miss when stigma is siloed by condition or population?

2. Where might shared experiences point to shared solutions?

3. And how might our work change if we designed interventions across groups rather than one at a time?
